Downtown Los Angeles (July 30th): Zekkereya El-magharbel | Solo Trombone

On Tuesday, July 30th in DTLA, we’re hosting a solo trombone performance from improviser/designer/educator Zekkereya. This will be a hybrid acoustic/electronics set incorporating critical work Z has done on Egyptian Islamic sonic traditions (especially maqam scales + modalities).

There will be vinyl selections from Yousef Hilmy, as well as an assortment of Arabic coffee, mint tea, and sweets for sale

Minaret is honored to participate in The Rancho — a food and natural wine festival taking place at Rancho Los Cerritos, which is a 300 year old ranch and historic landmark in Long Beach.

This marks our first event at Scribble, a non profit counseling center in Highland Park. Proceeds from our show will go toward fundraising for their sliding-scale mental health services.

Scribble puts on frequent events for the community & have a wonderful stage and sound system in their space. We’re grateful for them being down to host!
