“Don’t Trip,” the second single from takoda and daniel hayn’s collaboration “Together Tomorrow”, sprints past the starting line with a blend of takoda’s signature vocoder, hayn’s slinky keyboard chords, and lightning fast hi-hats courtesy of Luke Titus. Logan Kane’s bass is clear, melodic, dextrous. Nicole McCabe, here on alto sax, only needs twenty seconds to blow the hinges off with the most economical solo you’ll ever hear. “Don’t Trip” is a minute and a half of expressionist bedlam, just enough time to exhibit the now and future shape of LA jazz.
